Here I am starting the John K animation course.
For those of you who don’t know who John K is , John Kricfalusi is the creator of Ren and Stimpy and other things http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Kricfalusi. He has a free animation course you can do online. I am hoping to do the course and improve my art skills.
The first lesson is about learning construction and how to build the heads of characters based on simple shapes in space.
I first found the course after landing on Pete Emslie’s page when I did a search for eye possitioning (I was finding it hard to line up the eyes properly on my characters and their proportions were all out of wack). It’s a great post: http://cartooncave.blogspot.ca/2010/02/drawing-cartoon-eyes.html
You can find the first part of the John K course here: http://johnkcurriculum.blogspot.ca/2009/12/preston-blair-lessons-fundamentals-of.html
This seems like a really cool thing that he is offering, I am excited to start.
Starting with lesson 1 ( http://johnkstuff.blogspot.ca/2006/05/animation-school-lesson-1-construction.html ) here is the work I’ve done:
I am already pleased with the results. If you had told me a week ago that I would have been able to draw the fox or those rabbits in one go I would have not believed it!
